Foundation Program

The Foundation program is designed to build the core knowledge, professional habits and technical understanding developing team members need early in their journey. It gives firms a clearer way to build capability from the ground up, while giving future advisers a practical introduction to the profession.

Built to create stronger foundations

Foundation is designed for early-stage development across advice businesses. It helps members build confidence in the fundamentals, strengthen professional communication, and develop a clearer understanding of the core areas that sit at the heart of advice.

Rather than overwhelming people with too much too soon, the program focuses on the right building blocks first. That makes it easier for firms to onboard well, create consistency, and support progression with more structure.

What members will study

The Foundation program brings together selected learning from CFS and TAL to create a clear and practical starting point. The current structure includes 24 curated modules and around 15 hours of learning, giving developing team members a solid base without trying to do everything at once.

Professionalism and communication

Foundation starts with the skills that shape how someone shows up in a modern advice business. This includes professionalism and personal brand, LinkedIn presence, phone skills, email etiquette, video conferencing, structured communication, and writing clearly and effectively.

Super fundamentals

Members are introduced to super in a simple and practical way, including how it applies across different stages of life. The content is designed to build familiarity with the basics before moving into more advanced strategy later on.

Investment foundations

The program also covers core investment concepts, including types of investments, styles and strategies, principal considerations, and how to get started. It is about building confidence in the language and logic of investing early.

Risk and advice basics

Foundation introduces key areas of advice and risk, including advice foundations, life insurance advice products, life insurance foundations, income protection fundamentals, beneficiaries, effective insurance strategies for families with children, and an introduction to the Professional Year.

What Foundation helps build

By the end of the program, members should have a stronger grasp of the fundamentals, more confidence in professional communication, and a better understanding of the key concepts that support future growth in advice.

For firms, that means a more consistent starting point, stronger habits early, and a clearer base for long-term adviser development.
